COVID-19 cases in India rises to 62, 939 as 19,358 people recover
The number of COVID-19 cases in the country has gone up to 62,939 while the death toll rose to 2,109. Health Ministry data issued this morning said, the number of active COVID-19 cases stood at 41,472.

There has been a spike of 3,277 cases and 127 deaths in the last 24 hours. As many as 19,358 people have been cured and discharged so far.

Tamilnadu Covid 19 Updates

The number of Corona positive cases in Tamil Nadu has surged to 6535, with the confirmation of 526 people with the disease yesterday. A record 219 people were discharged yesterday, while four others died taking the toll to 44. The active caseload in the state is 4664. AIR correspondent reports,

756 Covid-19 patients who do not show any symptoms have been shifted out from the Stanley, Kilpauk, GH and the Super-Multispecialty Hospitals in Chennai. They have been moved to the Covid-19 Care Centres established at the city’s prominent colleges and Chennai Trade Centre. 176 others with separate rooms for them in their houses have been sent back for home isolation. If they develop any symptom, they will be provided personal medical attention. The move comes in the wake of reports that more than eighty per cent of the patients are asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, the Chennai wholesale market for vegetables and fruits that was shifted to Thirumazhisai in the city suburb is set to function from today. The old market at Koyambedu within the city remains sealed as it served as a major Covid-19 cluster contributing to the spread of the disease to more than a thousand people.

More Shramik Trains put in action

A special Shramik Train carrying over 1100 migrant labourers left Pune late last night. The train was arranged in coordination with the Uttar Pradesh government.

Additional Chief Secretory ,Home Awanish Awasthi said that government has planed to run 40 trains per day for standard migrant workers for next two days. The workers trains so far have been brought to Lucknow ,Gorakhpur,Kanpur ,Agra and Prayagraj including other places in state. So far more than one lakh 66 thousand workers and students have been send to their native places by government machinery. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that the government is taking all welfare measures of stranded workers. He has appealed migrant workers not to travel on foot as government is managing to bring them back by trains.

Meanwhile railway authorities have instructed it's officials and rail police forces to have keen vigil on rail tracks so that labourers do not use tracks for travelling. There are 1800 active cases of Covid -19 in 62 districts and 1399 patients have got cured and discharged so far in state. The recovery rate of patients in state is 43 percent which is 13 percent higher than national tally.

Health Ministry has decided to deploy Central teams to ten states that are witnessing high case load and high spurt of COVID-19 cases.

The teams will assist the State Health departments to facilitate management of COVID-19 outbreak. The states are Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The central teams are comprised of a senior official from the Health Ministry, a Joint Secretary level nodal officer and a public health expert. They will support the State health department in implementation of containment measures in the affected areas. These teams are besides the 20 central teams of public health experts who were earlier sent to the high case load districts. A high level team had recently been deputed to Mumbai to support the State efforts in COVID-19 response and management.

ICMR, Bharat Biotech to develop a fully indigenous vaccine for Corona Virus

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and a Hyderabad based leading Vaccine manufacturing company Bharat Biotech International Limited have partnered to develop a fully indigenous vaccine for COVID-19. The vaccine will be developed using the virus strain which has been isolated at ICMR's National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune.

The details of the virus strain has been successfully transferred from NIV, Pune to Bharat Biotech. Work on developing the vaccine has been initiated by the two partner entities. NIV will provide continuous support to Bharat Biotech for vaccine development.

ICMR and Bharat Biotech will seek fast-track approval to expedite vaccine development, subsequent animal studies and clinical evaluation of the vaccine.

Maharashtra reports 20,228 COVID-19 cases with 1,165 new patients
PTIMaharashtra has reported 1165 new coronavirus patients, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 20228. A health department official said the state has reported death of 48 patients yesterday, taking the toll to 779. A 51-year-old police constable who had tested positive for coronavirus died in Nashik district yesterday.

Earlier, three policemen in Mumbai and one each in Pune and Solapur had died due to the virus infection taking the total tally of policemen succumbing to it to six so far. As many as 714 personnel, including 81 officers, of Maharashtra police contracted COVID-19, and of these 61 had recovered from the infection. The number of COVID-19 fatalities in Maharashtra's Amravati district rose to twelve yesterday with the death of a 53-year-old man at the COVID facility in the district.

Covid-19 case count rises to 7,797 in Gujarat
PTIIn Gujarat, the Covid 19 case count rose to 7,797 after 394 new cases were reported yesterday. The state's death toll rose to 472 after 23 people succumbed to the virus yesterday. Maximum 280 new cases and 20 deaths were reported from Ahmedabad alone. As many of 219 patients were discharged yesterday taking the total number of recovered people to 2,091. The two-member team from AIIMS, visited Ahmedabad yesterday and held talks with doctors at Ahmedabad Civil hospital and state officials regarding the strategy to contain Covid 19.

Recovery rate of COVID-19 patients goes up to 58.31 pct in Rajasthan
PTIIn Rajasthan, recovery rate of COVID-19 patients has gone up to 58.31 per cent. 2162 patients have recovered so far, while the numbers of active patients in the state is 1440. 151 patients recovered in a single days yesterday, while 129 new cases reported in the state. The highest 24 cases were reported from Udaipur yesterday. 1,59,000 samples have been tested in the state so far.

AIR correspondent reports, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said that the workers stranded due to the lockdown should not leave for their home place. He said that such workers and migrants would be sent to their home place by special Train and or buses. He instructed officials to coordinate with the railway to operate more special trains.

The Chief Minister instructed to arrange shelter, food, and other arrangements on the way for the workers who have left on foot. Mr. Gehlot has asked to make the pass process more convenient for a medical emergency, death cases, or other urgent work.
