Mismatch between rise in COVID-19 cases and number containment zones prompted this decision

When Delhi is scrambling with the unwarranted rise in Coronavirus case, the South Delhi district administration names two areas as containment zone following the directive issued by the health department, in accordance with the existing guidelines.
The abysmal mismatch between the number of COVID-19 cases and number containment zones in Delhi apparently prompted this decision. It was surprising that when the national capital records a continuous rise in virus case the number of containment zones are on the fall. COVID-19 containment zones Delhi city stood at 76 on Monday, 70 on Tuesday, and 69 on Wednesday. On Wednesday, parts of Zamrudpur in Greater Kailash and Dakshinpuri were also included in the list of containment zones

On the same day, the grim COVID-19 cases in Delhi have risen to 11,088, with 534 fresh cases which are considered as Delhi’s highest single-day spike, say the authorities.

The coronavirus death toll soars to 176. 60 years old and above, accounted for over 52 per cent of the fatalities. The age bracket of 50-59 accounted for 26 deaths due to the disease, as per the health department.
Delhi, on Wednesday, has recorded whopping 5,720 active coronavirus cases while 5,192 patients have been discharged from several city hospitals, following the recovery.
In the last 24 hours, a minimum of 442 coronavirus positive patients have recovered and been discharged.
On Tuesday, the entire number of coronavirus cases stood at 10,554, including 166 deaths. With 534 fresh cases, the entire number of Covid-19 cases in Delhi has climbed to a staggering 11,088.
In the capital, the previous highest spike in fresh cases -- 500 -- was recorded on May 19.
The health department data also indicated that cumulative death figures refer to fatalities where the first explanation for death was found to be Covid-19, as per the report of the Death Audit Committee on the idea of case sheets received from various hospitals.
