Take a look at some common skin problems of summer with their simple yet effective solution to get rid of them.

Summers are around the corner. Summers are exciting for vacation, masti, outings but at the same time problematic for skin. Here are some common skin problems of summers and their simple yet effective solutions to get rid of them.

Acne

During summer. skin pores get blocked with oil and bacteria which results in a lot of acne.

Remedy – Add an equal portion (1 spoon) of fuller’s earth and apple cider vinegar. Make a smooth paste and apply this over the affected area. Leave it for 15 minutes and then clean it off with a damp cloth. This process removes excess oil and impurities from the skin.

Tips

1. Avoid wiping of skin, just pat dry with a soft cotton towel

2. Use a face wash that contains glycolic acid.

3. Avoid using oil-based moisturizer or cosmetic products

Heat rash (ghamauriyan)

Small red bumps due to accumulation of sweat.

Tips

1. Keep your body folds dry.

2. Wear loose cotton clothing.

3. Avoid going out in the sun in its peak hours. Take cool showers

Sun allergy

Skin rashes and hives are very common if you spend most of your time under the sun.

Tips

1. Avoid direct exposure to the sun. Use long hats, sunscreen, and wear light-colored loose clothes.

2. Viral infections like measles and chickenpox are very common in summers. So, if you develop a rash or high fever, kindly consult a doctor.

3. Mosquito bites, ant bites, or any other insect bite are very common. Use a mosquito net, close all your windows by evening to prevent the entry of mosquitoes.

Suntan

The long-term exposure to sun rays causes drastic suntan. Severe forms of suntan may cause itching, skin peeling, and redness. 

Tips

1. Oral antioxidants and vitamin C are very helpful in suntan.

2. You can also wear light-colored clothes, sunglasses, a hat or carry an umbrella whenever you are going out in the sun.

3. In case you feel sunburn, then take a cold water shower and can use OTC products to minimize the feeling of burn.

Body odor

Bacteria easily breed in many of our body folds. And excessive sweating in summers mixes with these bacteria which further results in distinctive and offensive odor.

Tips

1. If you sweat more, then increase your frequency of bathing. 

2. Sprinkle antifungal powder on all your body folds after bathing.

3. Wear clean and sun-dried undergarments and socks

4. You can also use deodorants (first test them for any allergies). 

Sticky and oily skin

The ultraviolet rays of the sun makes the skin oilier. Alcohol-based cleansers give temporary solutions and instead dehydrate even more.

Tips

1. Avoid using cleansers that contain sodium lauryl sulfate as its ingredient.

2. Avoid cosmetic products that contain mineral oil and petroleum as they clog the pores.

Dry, irritated skin and chapped lips

Hot and humid air can lead to dry and irritated skin.

Tips

1. Invest in some good sunscreen, always apply them before going out in the sun.

2. Keep yourself hydrated.

3. Consume a summer diet, avoid foods that cause dehydration, and include high water-containing food items.

4. Try consuming salad on a daily basis. Seeds and nuts have essential fatty acids that make the skin soft.
