Delhi declares war against Coronavirus with all resources directed in detection and cure of the patients

As the Covid-19 tally inched closer towards the 39,000 marks in the national capital, Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday announced that the number of tests performed in Delhi will be doubled in the next two days and will subsequently be increased by three times after six days. Delhi has the third-highest number of coronavirus cases in the country after Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

The decision was taken during a meeting held between the Union minister, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal among others to discuss the pandemic situation in the national capital.

Subsequently, Home Minister Amit Shah has convened an all-party meeting today to review the management for coronavirus in the National Capital. The Home Ministry has invited leaders of the Delhi-based parties, Bharatiya Janata Party, Aam Aadmi Party, Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party for the meeting. Union Health Secretary, Delhi Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary (Health) of Delhi Government will also attend the meeting.

Mr. Shah held a high-level meeting yesterday with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan. He announced a series of measures for the National Capital after the meeting. He also met the mayors and commissioners of Delhi's three municipal corporations to discuss ways to strengthen the strategy for fighting the pandemic.

Delhi Government has withdrawn its order mandating all nursing homes in the city with bed strength between 10 and 49 as COVID-19 nursing homes. The city government had on Saturday declared all nursing homes in Delhi having a bed capacity of 10 to 49 as Covid nursing homes. Delhi government had also asked all such nursing homes to make their Covid beds functional within three days of the issue of order. Only standalone exclusives Eye Centres, ENT Centers, Dialysis Centres, Maternity Homes and IVF Centres had been exempted as per the earlier order.

Delhi government had taken this decision to avoid intermingling of Covid and Non-Covid patients in small and medium multispecialty nursing homes and to increase the bed capacity for Covid-19 patients. Cases of coronavirus are increasing in Delhi in a rapid manner.

As an additional measure, the Centre implemented a house-to-house health survey in Containment zones of national capital to improve contact mapping. Home Minister Amit Shah has directed the Central Government, Delhi Government and all three Municipal Corporations of Delhi to ensure proper implementation of the house-to-house survey and Corona testing to the lowest level. Mr. Shah said this while chairing a meeting in New Delhi with the Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Delhi LG Anil Baijal, CM Arvind Kejriwal, Mayors of three Municipal Corporations of Delhi and senior officers to review COVID-19 situation in the national capital. He said the main aim of this meeting is to win the fight against Corona with mutual coordination.

The Home Minister said we have to make the country and the national capital Corona free, healthy and prosperous at the earliest. The Home Minister also directed the Delhi Police Commissioner to ensure all guidelines are enforced strictly.
