The World Health Organization has named this new variant of Kovid as B.1.1.529 i.e. Omicron. According to preliminary tests conducted by experts on Omicron, it is said to be 6 times more contagious than the delta variant. Let us discover more about it.

Apart from this new variant of Kovid Omicron South Africa, it has registered its presence in about 29 countries of the world. While the most worrying situation is happening in South Africa because the number of people getting infected here has doubled in a single day. 

According to WHO, Omicron may prove to be more dangerous for people who have been infected before. However, it is not yet confirmed whether it is easier to spread than other variants and how deadly it is. According to a report published by the New York Times, B.1.1529 i.e. Omicron is more infectious than all other variants of Corona. This can be gauged from the fact that it can also dodge the immune response from natural infection, ie vaccination.

Omicron Variants Symptoms

Omicron has been described by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the most dangerous i.e. infectious than all other variants of Kovid. According to research done by experts on this new variant, patients infected with the Omicron virus experience symptoms like extreme fatigue, severe pain in all the muscles of the body as well as a sore throat.

However, no change in the ability to taste and the smell was observed in the patients. However, the South African National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) has clarified that patients who are infected with Omicron do not show any unusual symptoms. However, it has not yet been confirmed how critical the condition of a person infected with this virus can be.

Omicron Variants Ways to Avoid

To protect against the Omicron variant of Kovid, it is necessary to take both doses of the Kovid vaccine. Do not forget to use hand sanitizer during the regular time following social distancing. To prevent the spread of Omicron virus infection, it is very important to identify the infected and the people who come in contact with them. Even the passengers coming from South Africa will have to stay in quarantine for a certain period along with getting the test done.
