6 Cooling and refreshing drinks for summers

Keeping yourself hydrated is the best way to keep your body cool in these summer times. Apart from drinking water, include these summer drinks in your daily diet to keep going.

In summers we all love to drink hydrating, cooling, and refreshing drinks. But having said that, these ice-cold drinks disrupt the digestive fire called Agni. Now this disrupted digestive system finds it hard to digest and absorb nutrients, balancing pitta dosha. As a result, metabolism gets affected. An unstable metabolism becomes the prime reason for many other health problems. Thus, it is good to avoid any kind of ice-cold cooling drinks, instead, drink lots of water, and have more liquid juices that will keep the body hydrated in this sweltering summer.

Bael ka sharbat – Bael juice is the best cooling substance. Bael juice is known to be beneficial for gastrointestinal problems, jaundice, obesity, peptic ulcer, and any kind of gynecological disorder. It tastes a little bitter afterward, for this, you can add lemon if you want.

Sattu – Sattu is made from black chana. It is roasted and grinded to a fine powder. This sattu has cooling properties along with being super filling and healthy. The cooling properties come from the presence of essential nutrients, fiber, and protein. You can have it by adding it to water and then drinking it as a juice or else you mix it with a little water and salt and knead it to make a dough. You can make parathas from this. But its juice form is more preferred over parathas for summer.

Aam Panna – This is made using green raw mangoes. It is best for giving your tummy a refreshing feel. It has vital micronutrients that replenish the mineral levels in the body and keep it going through the hot days.

Buttermilk – Easily available in stores, it is one of the most loved drinks used to beat summers. It is available as plain chhaas or tadka chhaas. In plain chhaas, you can add a little salt, chat masala, and pudina chutney which makes it healthier as pudina is also good for summers. It is an outcome of the separation of butter from milk.

Lassi- This is made from curd diluted with water. The only thing is, lots of sugar is added and served chilled. Curd, if consumed in summer, has lots of health benefits. Curd is a probiotic that aids digestion, and weight loss and improves immunity too. Since it is made from milk, it is rich in calcium, vitamin B12, and phosphorus. You can have it with ice cream and some dry fruits also.

Sugarcane juice – It is easily available and the most loved drink. It is diuretic in nature, is an energy booster, improves digestion, and is helpful in jaundice as well. It not only contains lots of sugar but is rich in water and fiber content also.
