In Andaman and Nicobar, the Covid-19 vaccination drive is going to begin on 16th January. In the first phase, the Covishield will be given to 4687 healthcare workers.

In Andaman and Nicobar, the Covid-19 vaccination drive is going to begin on 16th January. In the first phase, the Covishield will be given to 4687 healthcare workers. This includes Asha and Anganwadi workers along with ICMR functionaries and defense health care personnel as well.
 
Initially, the vaccination will be carried out at two sites in Port Blair i.e. GB Pant Hospital and Ayush Hospital which later extended to other six sites located on different Islands.
 

A total of 100-200 beneficiaries will be vaccinated in a day under the supervision of a team consisting of 5 members. The individual will be observed at the site for half an hour after inoculation of the vaccine. The second dose will be given 28 days after the first dose of the vaccine. All arrangements have been made to handle any circumstances by the Directorate of Health Services.

 


Meanwhile, the first lot of vaccines consisting of about 6500 doses is reaching Port Blair this afternoon. After the first phase, the vaccine will be made available to 6000 front line workers.
