A problem that plagues 50% of the population is drooling. Drooling is when inadvertently saliva comes out of our mouth. This can happen when one is asleep or even awake. Drooling while being asleep is very common. Medically, this condition is called hypersalivation. In the early years, a child is prone to drooling as he/she has no control over their salivary glands. There are a total of six salivary glands and they produce 2 to 4 pints of saliva every day. If one drools beyond age 2 to 2 ½, then the person is facing a problem. People with cerebral palsy are prone to drooling.

Causes of Excessive Drooling -

Avoid Acidic Food

Food greatly affects our bodies. If one eats highly acidic food, then drooling becomes more persistent. Alcohol too can cause one to drool.

Gastrointestinal Reflex Disorder

Gastrointestinal Reflex Disorder or GERD is a disorder where contents from your stomach come back up. This gives a feeling of choking along with drooling.

Avoid your Allergies

If one gets seasonal allergies or eats something that is not suitable to them then they develop a drooling reaction.

Cures for Excessive Drooling -

Drink More Water

The miraculous water can help you control your excessive drooling. By staying hydrated it is believed that water makes your saliva thinner and thus stop its overflow.
