Sputnik V - Third vaccine against COVID19 in India

"The first dose of Sputnik V vaccine was administered in Hyderabad”

Sputnik V is the third COVID19 vaccine available in India after Covaxin and Covishield. It is made by Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Moscow. It is a two-dose vaccine same as Covishield and Covaxin. This vaccine has an efficacy of 91% as per the researchers. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories has received 1,50,000 doses of this vaccine from Russia. However, the company expects more doses of it in near future. The first dose of Sputnik V was administered in Hyderabad. 

This vaccine is costing Rs. 995 per dose, this includes 5% of GST. Covishield which is being manufactured by Serum Institute of India, Pune is costing Rs. 300 per dose to States and Rs. 600 per dose to private hospitals. Covaxin is priced at Rs. 400 per dose to States and Rs. 1200 per dose to private hospitals. However, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories has set the same price for Government and private channels. 

20% initial supply of Sputnik V will be imported from Russia. “There is a commitment of 36 million doses from RDIF (Russian Direct Investment Fund) in next 2 months”, said Vice President, Dr. Reddy’s. The laboratory will soon bring single dose Sputnik Light vaccine in India.
