Mumbai and India Update for last 24 hours

Mumbai reported 417 new COVID-19 cases and 20 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the city's tally of coronavirus cases to 7,061. The toll rose to 290.

Meanwhile in other news ,District Magistrate Faridkot responds to a news report regarding three passengers returning from Hazur Sahib not taken to quarantine zone.In response to a news report that a PRTC bus coming from Hazur Sahib dropped three passengers on the way at Kot Kapura, Faridkot instead of taking them to Quarantine centre, District Magistrate Faridkot has confirmed that that all three passengers were intercepted by the police & taken to
government quarantine facility.In a tweet, District Magistrate Faridkot clarified that "Dist admin picks up passengers from designated places, when they are dropped by bus. These people after being dropped by bus (going to moga) tried
to go their home by private vehicle. They were intercepted by police and brought to government quarantine facility.”

In view of the hardships faced by the parents and the students due to COVID-19 epidemic, Union HRD Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ advised National Testing Agency (NTA) to extend / revise the dates for submission of online application forms for various examinations. Accordingly, the National Testing Agency has further extended/ revised the dates of submission of Online Application Forms for various Examinations.

The detailed schedule mentioning revised dates of downloading of Admit Cards and of Examination will be displayed separately on respective examination website(s) and www.nta.ac.in, after assessment of the situation after 15.05.2020 only.

NTA understands the importance of academic calendar and schedule, but it is equally concerned about the wellbeing of every citizen, including students.

NTA would expect students and parents to not worry about the Examination. Moreover, parents are requested to help young students utilize this time for preparing for the Examination and focus on critical concepts in order to close learning gaps if any. NTA would keep students updated about the latest developments and would inform about changes with ample time.

The candidates and their parents are advised to keep visiting the respective examination website(s) and www.nta.ac.in for latest updates.
