The steady growth in the number of Coronavirus cases in India makes the country the 10th  biggest hot spot in the world. India edged Iran to take over the position. India, in counting the highest one-day surge with 6,634 new Coronavirus cases takes a quantum leap into the 10 most-affected countries of the pathogen that has speedily swept across the globe, adding fresh epicenters across continents, leaving health care systems paralyzed. 

The total count of the Coronavirus cases in India was 138,474 on Sunday, almost doubling over the course of 13days, even after graded relaxations in the fourth phase of the lockdown were likely to push up the infection over the coming days.

Surprisingly the origin country China records zero fresh COVID-19 cases for the first time on Saturday. Experts derived that countries with weak health care systems and economically distressed populations, battling the virus becoming increasingly difficult.

Latin America is now the gravest hot spot of the highly contagious disease with Brazil and Mexico counted record numbers of infections and deaths, almost daily this week, propelling criticism of their governments.  Intensive-care units were swamped in Peru, Chile, and Ecuador following a spike in the count of infection, all countries praised for imposing early and aggressive shutdowns.

The recent 10,000 infections were reported in the last two days when India had reached its first 10,000 Coronavirus cases in nearly 43 days after the wave of infections following three isolated cases reported in Kerala in January. Later, the cases climb from 20,000 to 30,000 in seven days.

The doubling rate has decreased from 13.9days on May 18 to 13.1on Sunday.

Turkey, just above India in the global tally just, imposed its toughest lockdown measures yet starting Saturday for the Eid holiday. Germany after drawing accolades outbreak management, got seven people apparently infected at a restaurant—first known case since restaurants were reopened two weeks ago. France, deep into the league holding the seventh-highest number of infections, allows religious services to resume after a legal challenge to the government’s ban on gatherings in places of worship.

The US is worst-hit, with about 100,000 fatalities in 1.6million confirmed cases, with Russia and Brazil breathing on its neck.

 India, over the last five days reported 6,102 cases over the last five days. The data reflects that about a third of the total cases have been reported over the past week.
